Be different..!!

Two guys graduated from same university and after a month together they started job in same organisation.

After 3 years the Manager promoted Rahul as a senior sales manager other one Jiten remained at same position of sales officer.

Jiten felt hurt, disgruntled and even felt jealous of Rahul. Since he needed job however, he continued working anyways.

After couple of months Jitens bitter feeling towards Rahul grew so much that he could not work with him anymore longer.

He wrote his resignation letter but before he handed over to his manager he complained the management not value hard working staff that they promoted only the ones they favored.

The manager was well aware that Jiten worked very hard for the company even harder than Rahul and thus he much deserved the promotion.

But something was missing in Jiten.

So to help Jiten the manager gave him a task.

“Can you go and find out if there anyone selling watermelon in town?”

Jiten returned and said, “Yes there is a watermelon seller!”

The manger asked,” How much is he selling price per Kg?”

Jiten drove back to town to find out and then return to inform the manager that the vendor was selling the melons for 13.50/Kg

The manager told Jiten, “Let’s give Rahul the same task and see his response.”

So in the presence of Jiten the manager said to Rahul, “Can you please go and find out if anyone is selling watermelons in town?”

Rahul instantly left and on his return he reported to manager “Sir there is only 1 person selling watermelons in whole town, the cost is Rs. 49 per watermelon and Rs. 32.50 for half a melon he sells them at Rs. 13.50 per Kg when sliced. He has 99 melons in his stocks and each one weighs about 7 Kgs. His farm can supply us melons for next 4 months at a rate of 102 melons per day with Rs 27 per melons inclusive of delivery charges."

"The melons are excellent in quality appearing fresh and red and tastes way better than the ones we sold last year. He also owns the slicing machine and he’s willing to slice for us free of cost. We need to strike a deal with him before 10 AM tomorrow. If we do make this deal we will surely beat last year’s profits of melons by Rs 223 contributing positively to our overall performance as it will add minimum of 3.78% to our current overall sales target. I have put all the information down in writing and is available on a spreadsheet. Please let me know if you need it as I can send it within 15 minutes.”

Jiten was dumbfounded; impressed by Rahul’s smartness and inspired by his commitment.

He realized the difference between himself and Rahul.

He decided not to resign but to learn from Rahul.

Moral of the story

It’s not what we do how we do that makes us different and standout from others.

It’s not about doing things but about going the extra mile that brings us the reward.

It’s not merely hard work but smart work that gets us there.

It’s not about looking at others but looking at oneself that bring us excellence.

Next time you find anyone doing better than you don’t complain!

Put your act together. Do your homework thoroughly, walk the extra mile.

Success surely will be yours.

Rise by lifting others...

An old man saw a scorpion drowning and decided to pull it from the water. He calmly extended his hand to reach the creature. When he did, the scorpion stung him. With the effect of pain, the old man let go of the creature, and it fell back into the water. The old man realizing that the scorpion was drowning again, he got back and tried to rescue it but then still it stung him. He let go of it again. A young boy standing by, approached the old man and asked, “Excuse me sir, you are going to hurt yourself trying to save the evil – vicious creature, why do you insist? Don’t you realize that each time you try to help the scorpion, it stings you?” The old man replied, “Look son! The nature of scorpion is to sting and mine is to help. My nature will not change in helping the scorpion.” So the old man thought for a while and used a leaf from a nearby tree and pulled the scorpion out from the water and saved its life. Do not change your nature. I...

Fly High...

A crow holding a piece of meat in his beak was flying in the sky looking for a place to seat and eat it. Suddenly he saw a flock of eagles chasing him. Anxious to save his life the crow started flying higher and higher. Yet the eagles wouldn’t let go and kept chasing him. Seeing the plight of the crow, a bird a wise old owl sitting on a tall tree asked him, “What’s wrong with you my friend? You look very disturbed and why are you flying in such a state of panic?” The crow replied, “Look at these eagles! They are after my life. They want to kill me.” The wise owl said, “They are not after to kill you dear. All they want the piece of meat you are holding in your beak. Just drop it and see a magic.” The crow followed the advice of the owl. All the eagles flew towards the falling piece of meat and the crow could now fly higher. Isn’t this is true in our life as well? We hold on to the piece of meat. That money which is not ours and are always at...

GOD has its own plan...

When Mr. Clark a Scottish farmer heard that the luxury cruise liner Titanic was to make its very first voyage. Its maiden voyage from the United Kingdom to United States of America. He had a dream to be on the ship with his wife and his five children’s. He practically spent most of his life’s savings to buy tickets for his entire family; non – refundable tickets guess what? Just a week before the Titanic made its way to America, one of Mr. Clark’s son was bitten by a dog. The doctor recommended that the boy be quarantined for his own safety and for the others around him. Mrs Clark suggested that he and the other children actually make their way on the trip. But Mr. Clark’s conscience didn’t allow him to leave his fife and his ill son behind. Wednesday 10 th April 1912, as the Titanic sailed forth from the Southampton port in Hampshire, England, Mr. Clark stood there crying tears of disappointment and frustration. All his money was gone and none of the...
